Dylan is a seasoned instructor, spearfisherman, deep freediver, pelagic naturalist, safety diver, sailor, captain and marine technician. Passionate in all pursuits of the ocean, he has devoted his life to breath-hold diving over the past 8 years. Dylan is the youngest FII Level 2 Instructor, and has learned under the direct tutelage of 13x WR holder and FII founder Martin Stepanek. Grounded in an ocean state of mind, Dylan is eager to share all he's learned from his time in the sea. Dylan spent his youth on the edge of the Atlantic in Newport, Rhode Island, yet wasn't drawn beneath the surface until the age of 21. While on a sailing sabbatical with his father he found the allure of spearfishing and freediving in the Bahamas. After a season of adapting to the dark seas of Rhode Island, blue water became increasingly appealing. The Pacific Ocean beckoned, and Dylan moved halfway across the world to restructure his life around the ocean and freediving in the Islands of Hawai'i. Within 2 years he evolved to become a Level 2 freediving instructor capable of diving up to 60m/200ft with a 6 minute breathhold. Dylan has since made Kona, Hawai'i home and dives almost every day of the week. Aside from training and spearfishing, Dylan works as an offshore pelagic wildlife guide, spotter and safety diver. Dylan is also the Lead Educator and Head of Program Development at FreediveSafe! Hawai'i, a non-profit dedicated to prevention of spearfishing/freediving related fatalities. Dylan is available for public courses and private training in Kona, Hawai'i year round, aside from his time spent teaching annual classes in Rhode Island throughout August and September.
