FII Course Precautions During COVID-19 Re-Opening

During these unprecedented times, we are recommending short-term adaptations to our program and course protocols to better protect our community in locations where it is applicable. Due to geographical variation in degree of spread of COVID-19 and differences in local responses, where difference between by local authorities recommended protocols and FII recommendations exists, the more conservative approach should be taken.

Current Recommendations
•    Covid-19 Health Screening Statement completed directly prior to course
•    asking students to stay home should they feel sick or are the primary caregiver to a someone who is unwell
•    recommend high risk students to postpone their freediving training until future opportunities
•    instructors are continuing to provide some courses online via distance learning and practical training can be completed at a future date with any instructor
•    students are encouraged to register with a family member  or friend from their social circle as they can complete the class as one buddy team
•    facemasks are recommended when possible.  FII is providing instructors with disposable face masks for students.
•    limiting class size to small groups
•    providing 60% alcohol based hand sanitizer during all course components
•    ensuring the classroom has sufficient ventilation
•    ensuring students have sufficient seating spacing
•    wiping down all classroom surfaces before the class starts and during break with 60% + alcohol solution or 4tsp bleach - 1 quart water
•    use a dummy  or other tool when demonstrating safety in classroom. Dummy will be disinfected between each student practice.
•    adapting practical safety scenarios to better protect students without compromising the standard set in the skill guideline

Note: There are no changes in student's responsibilities to act should their diver need assistance at any time.

As always, during FII courses instructors and students health and safety always come first.
